"Gopping" people from anywhere | Dan | Thought Pie"Guerrilla Object Pushing" is pushing Bluetooth Objects to passers by in areas where they normally wouldn’t expect it.
It takes it's name from Guerrilla marketing and is already being used in cinemas and shopping centres. Its leveraging the use of people's mobile devices to allow them access to content, links or more details about an event.
This technique is obviously already being used, but we thought it required a name because during the Happy Packages project we intend to be 'gopping' people from anywhere and everywhere. In-fact we've sure we've devised a new method of content delivery an intend to make it pretty successful.
Field Research, Part 1 | Ben | Thought PieWow, what a lovely day it was Wednesday the 30th!
So not a good day for Thought Den and Mobile Pie to stay in, and as such we headed out into the big wide "real" world to do some initial Gopping tests.
For the results of the Field Research, read the thought den blog post
Field Research part two | Ben | Thought PieAs a follow up to the gopping exercise of Wednesday the 28th, we decided to take a more direct approach and quiz our target audience in an attempt to uncover the ways we're likely to use our phones in the future. It wasn't a task for the lighthearted and a certain amount of the truth serum was required to get to the 'good stuff' but after a long hard night of dedicated field research we can confidently report that female physiotherapists don't know how to use mobile phones.
But on a serious note, it seems there is quite a resistance to using mobiles for anything other than texting and phoning. We promised them a world of engaging, content rich, customisable applications for their phones with auto-update functionality, cross platform synchronicity, base level interface protocols and behaviour learning software. Much to our disappointment we were met with blank stares and, caught up in the reverie of our technological magnificence, had managed to alienate the entire pub. However, the inhabitants of turbo island were far more interested in our future-speak and accepted us with open arms…
In summary - if we want to empower and mobilise the general public, technophobes and savvy whizz-kids alike, we must
KEEP IT SIMPLE, STUPID.
